I was at a Christian meeting this week and a woman talked about her horse. She just likes to spend time with her horse. She has read books to the horse. The horse gives her horse hugs. She loves the horse and the horse loves her.
Many people in the room had expressed the desire to know what God wanted from them. I asked the woman to try to think of herself as God to the horse and to think of the horse as being her. What do you want from the horse? She was having trouble with the analogy. Don’t you just want the horse to be a horse, because you love the horse? God just wants you to be you.
I do believe there is just a little more than that. What could a Creator that has everything or could create anything, want from us? I like to think of life as a game that we are here to play. I do believe there is something just a little more.
My wife and I were watching a Sherlock Holmes television show. Sherlock was talking about his nemesis and said, “it is a frailty of genius that it craves attention.” I prefer the word appreciation. God is a genius. It loves our appreciation.
At the meeting, another woman talked about the beauty she sees in a sunset. She described the clouds and how she saw different shapes. She was appreciating creation.
I believe that to be part of an appreciation cycle. The cycle is that we get more of what we appreciate. By appreciate, I mean focus on, give our attention to, or use. People who appreciate money work and invest and get more money. People who appreciate their muscles exercise and get more muscles. People who appreciate their debt (notice this one is a negative) worry about their debt, spend more than they have and get more debt.
A patient studied law while he was in prison. He was constantly getting into trouble and representing himself. He appreciated his legal abilities.
Want more love? Be more loving. Appreciate love. Look at everyone and everything around you and see love all around you.
Quoting from The Spirit of Reiki, “The more you look, the more you will see. The more you listen, the more you will hear. The more you ask, the more you will receive.”
What more could you want?
Love is a many splendored thing
